Thatcham Baptist Church  As a church, We have been welcoming people seeking asylum since January 2022. Until December 2023, there was Home Office funded temporary hotel accommodation in our small town. People, mainly Christians, have been coming to the church for 20 months while they wait for the application to be processed. They are all adults, many here alone, aged from 19 to 60,though the majority are in their 20s. As these people from our fellowship gain their refugee status they are looking for places to live. Work is plentiful in this area but housing is extremely expensive and social housing very limited, especially for single adults. We are supporting them through hosting and mentoring to find places to rent locally or further afield.
