Open Door North East is recruiting for a Refugee Support Worker (Housing) (Maternity Cover):

Location: Open Door North East (Middlesbrough)
Hours: Full time (37.5hrs) with 25 days holidays. Maternity Cover starting September 2019 up to 12 months
Salary: £19,554 per annum

We are seeking an energetic, dedicated person with an eye for detail to join our bustling Middlesbrough office to support our housing provision and advice services for refugees and destitute asylum seekers across the Tees Valley.

If you care about welcoming sanctuary seekers and have experience of working with marginalised people, we would love to hear from you.

As part of the team, you will assist the Housing Manager to support refugees’ tenancies, assisting them to transition into life in the UK. You will assist the manager and team to ensure that refugees are given excellent support whilst housed with Open Door NE, that casework files are accurate and ODNE procedures are followed. You will provide support  and training for Open Door volunteers as directed.

Project caseworker (EU Settlement Scheme) (OISC level 1)

We are looking for an energetic OISC Level 1 Project caseworker for an exciting new role providing practical support and immigration advice to Praxis homeless European migrants and other homeless migrants with EU rights in relation to the EU Settlement Scheme. Jointly with our EUSS Immigration advisor and our existing EU project caseworker and led by our Advice Manager, you will take referrals for EU migrants at risk from Praxis advisers and other approved partners, exploring clients’ circumstances, submitting applications, supervising casework, monitoring service impact and casework trends, and raising awareness of the EU Settlement Scheme.

Head of Client Services

Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Hours: 35 hours per week (full-time)
Salary: £34,804 – £38,285 + 6% pension

The Head of Client Services is responsible for the delivery of our award-winning programme of support to vulnerable migrants and asylum seekers. This new role will oversee strategy and delivery and development of all our client support services. You will ensure that our projects meet the needs of the people we serve, are delivered safely and effectively, and meet all relevant legislative and safeguarding requirements.

Housing Services Manager

Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Hours: Full time (35 hours per week) – including being part of an out of hours on-call rota 
Salary: £31,323 – £34,385 + 6% pension

We’re looking for an experienced manager with expertise in managing properties, projects and people. Add in your experience of working with vulnerable adults and you’ll be ready to make a real impact in supporting homeless asylum seekers and refugees.

The job involves managing the day-to-day running of Action Foundation’s housing services, including the development and oversight of case management support to all clients. We currently manage 25 houses of multiple occupancy in Tyne and Wear with capacity for up to 88 clients across all housing services. We have also trained over 40 hosts to provide short-term housing support in their own homes. Project staff include a Senior Support Worker, six Support Workers, one Resident Support Trainer and a Hosting Co-ordinator. You will manage contractors for all property maintenance and ensure contract compliance and outcomes monitoring / evaluation so that the services are meeting funders / commissioners’ expectations as well as other legal and statutory requirements. You will also work with the Head of Operations and other colleagues to develop the housing services as required including an in-house OISC registered legal advice service and the ‘Alternative to Detention’ pilot with the Home Office and UNHCR.
