Happy to Host is a new one day event supporting and bringing together hosting schemes across the network. Taking place on Saturday 13th July 2019, this free event will celebrate the work of hosts, hear more about the experience of those being hosted, recruit volunteers to the cause and raise a collective voice for change.

– Are you involved in a hosting scheme for homeless migrants?

– Do you want to connect with others responding to homelessness in this unique way?

– Would you like to introduce anyone to hosting in an interactive and informal setting?

NACCOM’s first ever ‘Happy to Host’ Convention is taking place on Saturday 13th July from 10am – 4.15pm at Amnesty’s Human Rights Centre, New Inns Yard, London.

The packed programme includes live comedy from the fantastic No Direction Home, delicious Ethiopian food served from our friend Woin Tegegn at VeganBlu (Head Chef at Migrateful) and a selection of inspiring installations from the No Stranger Place photography exhibition.

The day features input from AirBnB on their ‘Open Homes’ scheme, UNHCR on the global context, NACCOM’s Dave Smith on key issues in hosting (including content from the Hosting Toolkit), and experienced psychotherapist Mirjam Thullesen on Boundaries & Self Care.

The morning session will feature a ‘Home Truths’ panel, examining the good, the bad and the funny moments of hosting with input from guests and hosts from across the NACCOM network including Refugees at Home, and in the afternoon, Zrinka Bralo from Migrants Organise and others will lead a panel on ‘Speaking out for Change from your own Doorstep’.

The event is free to attend and we will be able to cover reasonable travel expenses for hosts and prospective hosts*. Simply complete the booking form online.
